Dental Hygienist Job Description
 
SSS seeking Dental Hygienists for contract work at Dental Offices throughout suburban Atlanta areas. 
 
Typical duties of a Dental Hygienist

  • Works under the supervision of licensed dentists
  • Perform basic dental care tasks, mostly focused on keeping patient’s teeth and gums clean
  • Complete preliminary examinations on new dental service patients
  • Screen and review patient’s oral health history
  • Take X-rays of patients’ teeth and develop them for dentist’s use
  • Evaluate overall oral health, examining oral cavity for signs of periodontal disease or possible cancers, including sores, recessed & bleeding gums, gingivitis, cavities, tooth decay and oral lesions
  • Provide preventive dental care such as dental prophylaxis by cleaning deposits and stains from teeth and from beneath gum margins; removing plaque from and polishing patient’s teeth during routine checkup; administering local anesthetics; providing fluoride treatments; flossing teeth
  • Educate patients on ways to improve and maintain good oral health by teaching appropriate brushing and flossing techniques
  • Chart decay, disease, conditions, and any treatment recommended by dentist
  • Stock all needed supplies and maintain equipment
  • Works cooperatively with dentist, other dental hygienists, dental assistants, x-ray technicians, front-desk receptions and dental insurance associates to deliver high-quality, cost-effective dental care that empowers patients to take better care of their teeth at home


Required Experience/Expectations

  • Associate of Science (AS) in Dental Hygiene (2 years), Certificate of Dental Hygiene, Bachelor of Science (BS) in Dental Hygiene (4 years) or Master Degree (MS) in Dental Hygiene
  • Current Dental Hygiene licensure in state of practice

  • Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves or in bins according to organizational standards.

  • Prepare parcels for mailing.
